Zach Anner wins own Oprah network show

Oprah, John Mayer, Daniel Tosh and about 6 million other people love this guy: Zach Anner, the hysterical guy-in-a-wheelchair. Soon his new TV show, Rollin’ Around the World with Zach Anner, may have you feeling the same way. If his outrageous “climb” atop Austin’s Mt. Barrett video is any indication (watch), this show will be a hit.

Zach Anner, 26 years old, lives in Austin, Texas and was born with Cerebral Palsy, “the sexiest of palsies” he adds. A student and a founding member of the comedy troupe, Lark the Beard, Anner took a chance and submitted this video to the OWN reality show contest last year (OWN being Oprah's new television network). A few days after posting the video, it skyrocketed to millions of votes. Anyone who has no problem doing yoga in his underwear (and falling over shamelessly) is hard not to love.

After months of waiting, it was announced Friday that yes indeed, Anner would be getting his very own travel show on OWN, with production beginning soon and the show scheduled to air this Summer. Apparently Oprah was worried about his stamina (reality shows require long days of shooting), but Anner proved her wrong. He’s already made a few travel videos for his YouTube channel, where he visits Niagara Falls, the Texas Capitol building and Austin’s Stay Weird Festival.

Oprah says her network has only one mission: To educate. Anner’s show (watch the “Hollywood” pilot here) is guaranteed to have that in spades. Despite the jokes and laughs, the show will illustrate to the world that just because you have a disability, your personality isn’t defined by it.

In the words of Zach Anner, “My mom always said when life gives you wheelchair, make lemonade. I don’t know what she meant, but I’m going to take her advice.”

I cannot WAIT for this show to premiere.
