They say every idea has been made into a film. Not so fast. When was the last time a you’ve seen a movie starring two female wheelchair-users? That is why
Collision, starring Tiffany Giddes and Teal Sherer, both paraplegics, a film about wheelchair assassins, needs to be made.
With no studio backing, the film has joined Kickstarter, hoping to win funding to make their film. But they need your help to make it happen. If $10,000 is pledged by July 1st, the movie may one day be a reality.
When I first watched the promo for Collision I was stunned by how awesome it was. And its only a brief few minute clip. I was a bit skeptic about how the film would seem with two wheelchair-users as the lead, and in the same shot. Would it seem awkward? Would it be uncomfortable to watch?
I hate having to cringe whenever I see someone with a disability portrayed on the big screen. You never want the collective “us” to seem silly, or if we’re trying too hard. It’s a fine line to follow. And much to my surprise, the duo of these fine actresses is magical. The backstory of the film is great too: It's about a newly injured para who meets another local para, and she owns a bakery. As she gets to know her new friend, she discovers she's living a secret life as an assassin. Yes, a wheelchair assassin. And the movie just gets more exciting from there. How can you not love this film?
As their site says: “Collision is not about being in a wheelchair -- it's about living, loving, laughing, kicking ass and moving forward.”
Donate as little as $5 to help them out. Anything helps these days, and a film this special doesn’t come around that often.
