Quickie Updates Its Nitrum Ultralightweight Wheelchair

Quickie has expanded options for its lightest manual wheelchair the Nitrum, and added a new model, the Nitrum Hybrid, giving users additional choices in their chair setup.

The Nitrum Hybrid offers a dual-tube option for users who prefer the rigidity and increased weight capacity of this box-style frame. Like the original, open-frame Nitrum, which came out in 2020, the Hybrid offers full adjustability — including a unique caster system that lets you adjust width and angle to fine-tune your setup for maneuverability and desired rear seat height.

Quickie says that “during development of the Nitrum series, we made it our goal to optimize weight savings of each component and to achieve maximum rigidity.” To further decrease weight, reduce moving parts and increase frame stiffness, the company is now offering an Active Rigid option that includes fixed backrest and axle stems on both the Nitrum and Nitrum Hybrid.

“With the release of this newest edition of the Quickie Nitrum, we are proving our commitment to listening to our end users and continuously innovating in the segment of ultra-lightweight manual wheelchairs,” said Larry Jackson, president of Sunrise Medical North America.

The open-frame Nitrum comes in at a 10.8 lbs transport weight, while the Nitrum Hybrid has a 12.8 lbs transport weight, and selecting the Active Rigid option will further reduce weight on both models. The Nitrum Hybrid starts at $2,995 while the open-frame Nitrum starts at $2,695, and there is a $300 upcharge for the Active Rigid option on both models. The Nitrum and Nirtum Hybrid are covered by Medicare and most private insurances. For more information, you can visit the Sunrise Medical website.
