The National Park Services and wheelchairtraveling.com has teamed up to cosponsor a forum intended to increase the accessibility of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

“Being involved with this effort makes me feel like John Muir himself, but from an accessibility standpoint,” says Ashley Lyn Olson, founder, CEO and chief editor for wheelchairtraveling.com. “I feel like I am a pioneer and right where I need to be. There’s so much to do still, and we are just getting started. The outdoors is so important for me and I know that I am not alone.”

The forum will take place on Oct. 19 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Ed Roberts Campus, 2775 Adeline St., Berkeley, Calif. A formal presentation is scheduled for 3:30 and 5:30, and informational tables will be available a well. Also, the event will be streamed live via  Periscope (#SFNPSAccess2Parks).

NPS is especially interested in feedback about the accessibility of Muir Beach Overlook, Muir Beach, Muir Woods, Rodeo Beach, Battery Wallace, Fort Baker, Crissy Field East Beach, Kirby Cove, Mori Point, Fort Mason, Alcatraz, Fort Point, Lands End, Stinson Beach and Baker Beach.
