I am the Digital Experience & Content Director for United Spinal Association. Previously I served as associate, managing and finally executive editor of New Mobility from 2000-2022. Although I miss being part of New Mobility's team, I enjoy collaborating with United’s program staff on new ways to serve our members in the digital realm.
Before joining New Mobility, I reported for Mouth and Ragged Edge disability rights magazines, and my byline can be found in many other publications. I enjoy guest-teaching disability studies at local universities and have developed workshops for Pennsylvania’s Power Through Knowledge conferences that ran from 1993-2014. I chaired committees for that conference, including the program committee. Additionally, I chaired the Statewide Plan for Independent Living committee as a governor-appointee to the Pennsylvania Statewide Independent Living Council, served as board secretary for the Center for Independent Living of Central Pennsylvania, and as board secretary and policy committee chair for the Susquehanna Township School District. In my pre-mag professional advocacy days, I helped establish the wheelchair-accessible Rural Transportation Program and the expansion of Medicaid waivers in Pennsylvania. My primary disability is multiple sclerosis. I live with my wife, Ginny Rogers, and our teenage nephew, Antonio Martinez, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
