Web giant Google celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act on its home page, in video and by painting portraits of movement icons on staircases throughout Washington, D.C. That last one raised some eyebrows since steps aren’t exactly a symbol of universal access. Google explained it was in homage to the iconic “Capitol Crawl,” the last-minute push of ADAPT on the eve of the law’s passage when activists abandoned their wheelchairs and pulled themselves up the Capitol steps. Well done, Google, and thank you: google.org/impactchallenge/disabilities/ada.html.
