The New Mobility Photo Issue

For the first time, we’ve decided to let the photos do the storytelling. Our September issue will still have all of our regular departments, but instead of our typical mix of features, we’ve assembled a package of diverse photo essays. Fewer words, more images, but the same New Mobility.

The Work of Nolan Ryan Trowe

Nolan Ryan Trowe sustained an SCI in 2016 and has since built a powerful portfolio documenting the lives of people with SCI/D and other disabilities. His work has been featured in the New York Times and recently won first prize in the Getty Images Creative Bursary.

Where Are They Now?

Five years ago, Bear Gutierrez crafted an amazing series of photos of people with SCI for the Craig Hospital Foundation. We revisit the portraits and catch up with his subjects in 2020.

Tricky Transfers and Other Pro Tips

Instead of trying to describe how to do complicated wheelchair maneuvers, Seth McBride will show you how to do them with photos.

Reader Photo Conest

We asked our readers to submit photos that capture how they are rolling in 2020. These are the highlights, including the first-place winner.

Getting the Perfect Shot

Photographer Kirk Williams takes us behind the lens to show how he gets great images — and how readers can too.
