Ki Mobility has introduced a new line of self-adjusting fluid cushions intended to improve skin protection and postural stability.

The Axiom Adjustable Skin and Axiom Adjustable Skin and Positioning cushions feature a fluid system that utilizes your body weight and shape to automatically adjust the fluid in high pressure areas to reduce loading. A bladder located under the ischium is filled with Hydrolite — a lightweight fluid mixture designed to maintain viscosity under a wide range of temperatures. The fluid moves into reservoirs in the front of the cushion as it adjusts to your weight. Once you are properly immersed in the cushion, you plug the reservoirs, locking the fluid in place. You can further adjust by changing the position of the reservoir plugs. Bladders under the trochanters are filled with a stiffer version of Hydrolite fluid to improve stability without sacrificing skin protection.
The Axiom AS and ASP are designed to promote a dry and cool microclimate for improved skin protection. Spacer fabric sits atop the foam base, allowing air to flow through the cushion. The closed cell foam base is designed with pathways that channel moisture and heat away from the skin.
Both the Axiom AS and ASP weigh in at just over 3 pounds with a maximum weight capacity of 350 pounds. The AS is appropriate for those looking for a skin protection cushion, while the ASP offers the same skin protection for those with positioning challenges.
