The Switch-It CTRL+5 is a new product from Sunrise Medical that allows wheelchair users to use their voice, buttons or levers to easily make adjustments to your wheelchair seating position and seat elevation. The Switch-It CTRL+5 comes in two models, one with toggle switches for those with impaired hand function and strength, and another with a push-button layout for a more streamlined experience. Both models can be activated by voice and can be programmed to operate up to 10 power seating options like tilt, recline and seat elevation. The Switch-It CTRL+5 can be mounted on either armrest or the back of the wheelchair for attendant control. The Switch-It CTRL+5 also features a USB-C charging outlet to keep phones and other devices powered all day. The Switch-It CTRL+5 is compatible with QUICKIE and ZIPPIE with SEDEO seating systems.
“We believe that everyone deserves full control over their comfort and health,” said Bernd Krebs, chief technology officer at Sunrise Medical. “Voice Activation on the CTRL+5 gives riders more autonomy in managing their posture and well-being, especially those who may have difficulty accessing their standard controls.”
iON Integrated Drive Control System

The iON Integrated Drive Control System is a new control option for power wheelchair users with speech difficulties. Adaptive Switch Laboratories, a division of Invacare America, designed iON to facilitate users’ interactions with their environment and to make performing daily tasks easier. The iON gives you the ability to use the drive control of your wheelchair to operate up to eight devices like smart phones, tablets and computers through a Bluetooth connection. You can communicate with others by selecting from an array of pre-programmed phrases. The iON also allows you to easily switch driving controls for better control depending on the situation. The iON is compatible with LiNX, RNet, and Curtis Electronics wheelchair control systems.
“This new system takes customers’ independence to new levels by serving as a powerful smart hub and control panel for some of life’s most important daily activities,” ASL Director Lisa Rotelli said. “The iON allows someone to use the drive control of their wheelchair to also control their technology and environment with the goal of being less reliant on caregivers and others.”
