Advocates Fear Rollback of Disabled Voting Rights

A new law in Texas is the latest of dozens passing through state legislatures across the country that place new restrictions on voting access. Disability rights advocates say these laws will make it harder for people with disabilities to vote. Tim Gilmer takes you inside the battle over voting rights and talks to disabled Texans who say the new law is about to make a bad situation worse for many wheelchair-using voters.

Netflix Realizes Disabled People Have Sex Too

The hit Netflix show Sex Education recently lit disability internet on fire when it aired a scene in which characters Maeve and Isaac, a wheelchair user, consummate a summer romance. “The whole scene is a masterclass in tenderness and eroticism,” say reviewers The Triple Cripples. “It is disabled sex as it should be shown. The Wheelchair User who Built A State-of-the-Art Rehab Center

When Natalie Barnhard sustained a spinal cord injury in 2004, she was unimpressed with the rehab options near her home in Buffalo, New York. Seventeen years later, she recently opened an SCI-focused rehab center that aims to help each client reach their goals, whether that’s regained function or better ability to do their favorite activities. “We believe that this should be an accessible place where people can come to enjoy their time in our gym but also socialize with others,” she says.
