Over 30 years after it helped revolutionize mouth-controlled joysticks, the QuadJoy is getting a major makeover that promises better recognition and easier use. The new QuadJoy 4 from QuadLIFE looks similar to its predecessors, but comes with rewritten internal software aimed at improving functionality.
The QuadJoy was originally designed by a quad in 1993 and brought to market a year later to help people with mobility disabilities navigate the early days of the internet. While the base mouse unit still looks very similar to its first iteration, the QuadJoy 4 allows you to do more on more platforms than its creator could have imagined.
You can now configure edge gestures to account for up to 48 different commands and actions. Adjustable sip-and-puff thresholds, LED indicators for received commands and three switch/button inputs add to the possibilities.
The QuadJoy 4 is compatible with Windows, MacOS, Android, iOS 13+, Linux and Chrome OS, and is certified and approved for use with the Xbox. It’s 100% USB Plug and Play for easy setup and comes with a free app that allows you to customize settings.
The QuadJoy 4 mouse starts at $1,368.50 and the full QuadJoy4 Kit, which comes with QuadJoy 4, Mounting Arm, Clamp, USB Cable, Supplies Pack and clips, starts at $1,636.00. QuadLIFE offers a 30-day-risk-free trial program for the QuadJoy 4 Kit and is happy to work on alternative financing options.
