SOREL Introduces Its First-Ever Adaptive Winter Boots

SOREL has partnered with Zappos Adaptive to release easy-on versions of three of its most popular winter boots.

The SOREL Explorer Boot Dual Zip for men and Explorer II Joan Dual Zip for women feature waterproof leather outers, microfleece linings for warmth, a rubber sole, and adaptive designs to make it easier to get them on and off. Each model has zippers on both sides of the boot to provide a wider opening for your foot. There is also an enlarged loop on the heel to make pulling up the boot easier, as well as removable insoles to accommodate orthotics.

If you’re looking for an ankle-high boot, the SOREL Emelie II Chelsea Heel Zip is a waterproof leather boot with a single zipper and enlarged pull tab in the back, along with a removable insole for orthotic users.

The Sorel Explorer Boot Dual Zip opens on both sides to make getting it on and off easier.

“We’re humbled to have had the opportunity to work with SOREL on introducing their first inclusive footwear line to the market,” said Dana Zumbo, the business development manager for Zappos Adaptive. “With both brands’ passion for meeting customer needs, we seamlessly aligned throughout the process — which involved sharing feedback from Zappos Adaptive customers’ most requested features and working directly with the disability community to ensure the most universal fit and wear possible.”

The SOREL Explorer Boot Dual Zip is available in men’s sizes 7 to 15 for $139.95, and the Explorer II Joan Dual Zip is available in women’s sizes 5 to 12, also for $139.95. The SOREL Emelie II Chelsea Heel Zip is available in women’s sizes 5 to 12 for $149.95. All models are available exclusively at Zappos Adaptive. Check back soon for reviews on NewMobility.com.

Unfortunately, these wouldn’t work for me. As a paraplegic whose feet are completely paralyzed, my toes curl when putting them into shoes, and a straight zipper on the side does not resolve this. Billy Footwear has the right idea by making the zipper go all the way up to the front so I can position the front of my foot manually.

Agreed, making the curve at the base of the tongue is the point where its the hardest to insert the foot. Love Billy Footwear!

I had similar problems, but Billy’s are to narrow. I’ve tried the Ugg’s also, again to tight. I just recently got a pair of Nike Zoom Pegasus 38 Flyease, they are incredible. Awesome fit and you can customize your shoe color. Look them up and try them, you won’t be sorry. I can finally wear shoes!!

As a para I was able to wear boots for years. Loved the look. However after about 8 years my ankles started breaking down and the sores were hard to heal and one day in boots caused a new sore. So don’t wear boots any longer.

I like to snowmobile and am often out in sub-zero so warm boots and heavy socks are important. I also have the problem with toe curl when getting my boots on. What I did this past weekend was insert a credit card between my very thin compression socks and my heavy snowmobile socks (and wrap my foot in a plasric bag). My boots then slipped on with relative ease.

I’ll continue to enjoy my Vans boot. The boot have velcro to snugly close, and keep the boot closed. It also has a large button on the top of the boot. That a skrungy type elastic band Goes around the button. They come in two colors. Red and black checxs and green and black checks.Unisex
I paid $40 brand new on eBay for them. They are very comfortable and very warm.
I am a C 5-6 quad. I am able to put the boots on or take them off by myself.
