Wheelchair Accessible Chevy Traverse Gets a Major Update

Power wheelchair users rolling up a low-angle ramp into a silver Chevy traverse SUV.

On Nov. 19 at the Country Music Awards, Chevrolet and BraunAbility debuted a new, improved version of their popular wheelchair conversion for the Chevrolet Traverse. The original accessible Traverse debuted in 2023 and found a large audience with wheelchair users looking for a more rugged accessible vehicle that wasn’t a minivan.

Like the previous model, the new Traverse comes with a fully lowered floor, ample room for turning around inside, automatic doors and removable front seats. The new model retains the retractable side entry ramp and adds lighting, making it easier to see rolling in and out in dark spaces. The new Traverse also adds a kneel function that lowers the vehicle to reduce the ramp angle to make it easier to push in. Other changes include a new turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, an all-new diagnostic system, additional noise-reduction insulation, and expanded cupholder availability.

The new accessible Traverse will be available early in 2026. Check Chevy’s website or your local mobility dealer for pricing information.
