On Oct. 31, longtime disability-rights advocate Engracia Figueroa died from complications of a pressure sore that re-emerged after United Airlines severely damaged her power wheelchair. Kenny Salvini, an advocate for air travel access reform who has dealt with his own air travel horror stories, explains how we got to a world where airlines operate with relative impunity even though systems now exist for wheelchair users to fly in their own wheelchairs.
